Spill has Westfield residents upset - Morrow County Sentinel

Spill has Westfield residents upset A spill reportedly from Emerald Bioenergy into the Whetstone River in Westfield Township Saturday, April 17. Courtesy photo WESTFIELD TOWNSHIP Residents say a spill that occurred last weekend came from Emerald Bioenergy (Renergy) and went into the Whetstone River and headed toward Delaware Reservoir and Lake. Angela High said she is concerned about the incident and possible damage to the environment. “There are a lot of people who fish the Whetstone River. This affects the environment,” she said. High said Saturday’s incident isn’t the first spill of black sludge into the waterways. “It was about 5:30 p.m. and ODNR responded. They took samples from the water off Road 21 and the bridge on 156 and Claypool Road,” she said.

Self-service dog wash opens in Middletown as pet ownership grows

MIDDLETOWN The idea to launch a self-service dog wash came to Elizabeth Couto after her local Pet Valu store closed and she needed a place to bathe Grayson, her American staffordshire terrier. “I love to get my dog a bath,” Couto said. “I was giving him a bath every, like, two weeks because he has a lot of skin allergies and I was doing it at Pet Valu in Middletown, because we live in Tiverton, but it closed. I hate putting them in the bathtub. It gets everywhere, and the closest tub I could go to was in Fairhaven, (Massachusetts). It was like 45 minutes, so I said to (Christopher), I kind of want to open up a self-serve dog wash station.”
